Detuned (7%) PF correction panel 400 kvar for drives. It supplies the reactive power that motors need, so the utility does not have to. That removes the power-factor surcharge on the bill and frees transformer and cable capacity. The 7% detuning reactors protect the capacitors from harmonics produced by drives, UPS and LED drivers.

Connecting to Plantmargin

The controller's Modbus port connects to the RS485 line; Plantmargin also sees the effect on the incomer meter. Plantmargin reads power factor, kvar and steps every 10 seconds through the edge gateway, stores it for years as hourly figures, draws it against its normal band, and uses it in cost per unit, alarms and verified savings. The installer pack for your plant lists the exact register or channel to use.

Sizing

• kvar needed = kW × (tan φ now − tan φ target). Plantmargin works this out from your own incomer data and shows it on the Bills & tariffs page.
• If harmonic distortion (THD of voltage) is above about 3–5%, or drives make up more than about 20% of load, use a detuned bank.

Installation

• Connect on the main LV board near the incomer, with its own breaker and the controller's CT on the incomer.
• Allow ventilation: capacitors age quickly when hot.

• Manufacturer's warranty, usually 12–24 months from delivery; the exact period is stated on your quotation.
• Supplied with the datasheet and manual; calibration or test certificate where the product has one.
