Split-core CT 1000/5 A, class 1

Split-core CT 1000/5 A, class 1. It steps the feeder's current down to 5 A so a standard CT-operated meter can measure it safely. The split-core design opens and clamps around a live cable, so the feeder does not need to be disconnected.

Choosing the right CT

• Use this CT on feeders whose normal load is about 500–1,000 A. Below about 10% of the rating, accuracy falls.
• Check the window (opening) size against the cable or busbar before ordering; tell us the cable size and we will confirm.
• Order three per three-phase meter, all of the same ratio.

Installation

• Fit with the P1 side towards the supply. Wire secondaries through shorting terminals.
• Never open a CT secondary while current flows in the primary: short it first. The voltage that appears can injure and destroy the CT.
• Set the same ratio in the meter, or every kW reading will be wrong by the same factor.

Connecting to Plantmargin

The CT feeds a CT-operated energy meter; Plantmargin reads the meter. Order them together and we configure the ratio before delivery.

• Manufacturer's warranty, usually 12–24 months from delivery; the exact period is stated on your quotation.
• Supplied with the datasheet and manual; calibration or test certificate where the product has one.
